Sophie Mohler

Swiss/Australian soprano Sophie Mohler received a Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2023. She has been a young artist with Pacific Opera Studio, The Song Company’s apprenticeship program and The Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, and looks forward to participating in the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Studio in November. She has performed roles including La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro, Roselinde in Die Fledermaus, Ottavia in L’incorinazione di Poppea and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte.
She has been engaged in premieres of Australian works in roles including Sam in Trackworks produced by Sydney-based theatre company BBT and Alfhild in the filming of Australian opera Percy – The Opera by John Matthews and Margery Smith. She has also been engaged as a soloist for works by emerging Australian composers commissioned in celebration of the Bicentenary of the NSW Parliament.
Her recent solo concert and recital engagements include Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit, Last Night of the Proms (Willoughby Symphony Orchestra) and Impossible Dreams (Live at Lunch series, The Concourse Chatswood).
She has been the recipient of the Philip Bacon Scholarship, Patricia Lucas Music Achievement Scholarship, The George Henderson Scholarship, The Helen Myers Scholarship, the Sydney Scholars Scholarship and a scholarship awarded by the PATIM fund. She was also a finalist in the Demant Dreikurs Song Competition and has recently been named a finalist in the Bettine McCaughan Scholarship (ANATS).
