Dr Nancy Underhill DUniv has been Deputy to Lisa Gasteen AO in an honorary capacity since The School began in 2011. In 2024 her position changed to director of implementation. Her relationship with important international and national contacts in the arts is the key to the successful fundraising and networking for The School.

As Foundation Head of the Department of Art History and The University Art Museum , University of Queensland for 25 years, she is highly experienced working with university personnel and policies. Her books include 'Sidney Nolan: A life' (2015), 'Nolan on Nolan' (2007) and 'Letters of John Reed' (2001).
