Kira Dooner

Kira Dooner is a passionate Australian soprano. Originally from Armidale NSW, she is a graduate of a Bachelor of Music Performance in Classical Voice at The Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and is currently studying with Professor Lisa Gasteen AO.
Kira has continued to be recognised as a promising classical singer, being the recipient of awards such as the Wagner Society in Queensland Encouragement award (2022), the Linda Edith Allen award (2022), the Blanche and Hugh Campbell Award (2021) and the Nora Baird Bursary (2020). She was selected as as a Young Artist with the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program in 2023 and 2022, where she performed the principal role of Barbara in Der Häusliche Krieg. She is excited to be joining the program for a 3rd time in 2024.
2023 saw her perform the roles of Donna Anna and Fiordiligi in excerpts at the Cuskelly opera program and La Contessa and Agathe at the Tyalgum Music festival.
Roles performed during her time at QCGU include The Princess and Diana in Underworld, Celia in Iolanthe, Peaseblossom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mrs Buchanen in Street Scene and Chorus in Dido and Aeneas.
Kira has been an associate artist with Voxalis Opera for their 2023 and 2024 seasons.
She was the featured soloist in the Australian premiere of Erika Svanoe’s ‘Four Grainger Songs’ with the QCGU wind orchestra and also the soprano soloist for the Australian premiere of Elena Kate-Chernin’s “River Symphony” with Brisbane Symphony Orchestra and Voices of Birralee.
